How Bypass filtration works
The Filtakleen filter is a supplement to the main filters which works by continually taking only a small amount of oil from the system upon which we are able to perform a more thorough cleaning operation.
Bypass filtration is the key to not only lowering your maintenance costs but also increasing the life of your equipment. Why? Chances are that the fluids in your equipment do not meet the component manufacturer's specifications for cleanliness. Any small particles of soot and carbon floating around in your engine oil will wear the internal components much faster than you might imagine. So by removing the water content from the oil, it reduces the acid normally formed in an engine.
With Bypass filtration, or a series of offline filters, your critical lubrication fluids will stay in excellent condition for extended periods, no matter what the application. This is because fluids are slowly filtered through a special cartridge element, and are filtered down to just 1 micron. Normal OEM filters will only filter down to 30-40 microns; this will not take out the harmful particles that do the most engine wear.
